Scottie E. McDaniell has written all her life.

She was given a diary as a little girl but soon found it wasn’t big enough to record her thoughts and experiences. Her father was in the military and as she traveled to many different states and countries she was inspired to write about them. Her remembrances grew into family journals.

With every career move, she wrote. She wrote for business newsletters, articles for newspapers and magazines, for organizations, and for grants. Some of her poems have been published both in print and on the internet.

As an established writer, she knew she wanted to pursue and expand her love of writing. Then, one day she remembered something her father said about billy goats. So, she started a story about a little billy goat. She loved her character, Billy, so much that she couldn’t stop there. She wrote another and another. Now, there is a six-book series about a little goat who runs away from the farm to learn about life. His wholesome adventures take him into trouble, mischief, danger, a life-long friendship, and even problem-solving for humans! Perhaps Billy even used some of the author’s own investigative skills from her time as a confidential informant for the OSI (Office of Special Investigations, USAF). But always, Billy’s ingenuity, his moral compass and the Golden Rule guide him.

Each book has a theme and the words of that theme – computers, cooking, sports, medicine, theatre, nature – are used to develop the story. The reader is challenged to find those words while reading the mystery.  An original poem appears in each book to further the plot.

The author hopes the readers will enjoy the stories as much as she enjoyed writing them.
